the creative process...

so I had an idea that I've been wanting to try out since I created this:

"waiting"

...notice the little pink flowers, ranunculus.

this modern looking flower was abundant at last year's The Wedding Co. Spring Show...and I simply fell in love with it!

So I wanted to take it further.  I thought, how about a brooch?

Ok, well, I'm sharing with you the process.
You see, it's one thing to make a miniature version, it's another to bring the design up to a larger scale.
So here are the results...

...hmmmm, no

...definitely not

...not quite, but better

...aha!  that's it!

from start to finish....

They're each about 1" in diameter.  I'll be adding brooch backs to them shortly, up for sale soon after that :-)  What comes next?  I'd like to try making them bigger.
Oh, and the added bonus?...
Oh yeah!
Simply in love with this piece, entitled
"is it just me, or are they dancing?"

Yes, that's right, those tiny little "radiant orchid" (this spring's it colour according to Pantone) coloured flowers, and the even tinier white flowers were made from the almost accidental canes that came out of my large-scale ranunculus brooches!

You can expect more Li'l Art pieces like this coming your way soon :D!

the little Art Show that could

Just winding down from a busy weekend (and the resurgence of a cold that I thought had gone away).
I decided at the last minute to participate in a first-time Art Show & Sale at the Richmond Hill United church last Saturday, Nov. 5. Am I ever glad I did!!!
After much stress trying to juggle show preparation with home renovations (my husband's doing the renovations, but I'm doing the organizing), baby's 1st birthday parties (we had two for Evan), and Halloween, the show went off AMAZINGLY!
I was a little late getting my display ready (probably about 10-15 min. into the show), but in just 3hrs I was thrilled to sell 5 of my Li'l Art framed sculpture pieces, and several Li'l Bouquet sterling silver jewellery pieces! (below: "A Winter's Day", sold at the Art Show & Sale last Saturday)
Without a doubt my BEST SHOW EVER!
I sincerely hope that the organizers plan on a 2nd Annual, because I hope to be there for it.

Very happy to add that the fee for a table at this event was a percentage of sale, of which I was pleased to be able to leave a sizable sum by the end of the night. Proceeds went to the Stephen Lewis Foundation for African families affected by AIDS.

I didn't have my camera with me, but I'm hoping to receive some photos taken of my booth by the organizers, which I will then post to this article.

BTW, I've got my work cut out for me, since this weekend is the Heintzman House Auxiliary 40th Annual Artisan Craft Sale, of which I am participating again this year, and I NEED MORE PRODUCT, YIKES!!!

...but don't worry, my hands will be busy all week with my polymer clay!

for my little monkey man...

sweetie-pie, honey-bunny, little man, precious...
he has so many names, but his official name is Evan!

Couldn't tell you how long this Li'l Art piece took me. Between fussing over the shades of yellow, orange, green, and teal blue, and deciding on what characters to represent each letter (only a few differ from the first ABC piece I made for my niece last March), struggling through the return of fatigue through my third trimester, and lastly giving birth to my precious little one...well, let's just say *sigh* it's finally done!

"Sing With Me"

Followed closely with...

"Evan"

Another labour of love completed!

Together with much "help" from my husband (he'll really be doing all the work, I'll just be picking out the photos and music) I'll be making a new Youtube video (finally!) featuring this latest ABC Li'l Art piece, so stay tuned!
